During the month of December, 1951 and January, 1952, eight Alpha men met at the home of Brother Ben Miller on Broadway, with the idea of chartering an Alpha Phi Alpha Chapter in Ocala, Florida.

On an evening in March 1952, the following eight Brothers, (James Anderson, Gaston T. Cook, William E. Jackson, Oswald Johnson, Harold Jones, Oliver Jones, Ben Miller, and Robert Starker), met at the Madison Street Elementary School. Brother William E. Jackson presided over the meeting and, as a result, the Epsilon Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. was created.
